It has been a pretty routine month for us. Dennis went on his final hunting trip and brought home a nice red deer to round out our meat supply. We really love the meat from red deer! We took about half of it to Sheila and Matt, and took a ham to Stephen and Mandy, and processed a ham and the backstraps for ourselves (and shared some of that with some friends). We love having plenty of venison to share!
Taking the ham to Stephen means that we got to visit with
his family a bit. It was SO good to finally get to see Gracie again! We had
seen the boys last month when they went hunting with their dad and grandad. But
we hadn’t seen Gracie since July…lots of changes in that length of time! I am SO looking forward to the time when we can be together more!
Dennis is still working on the hall bathroom. (No it isn’t
going to be finished this month, as I had hoped.) It is a slow process, right
now, doing the mud work on the walls. He has to allow each layer time to dry at
least 24 hours before he can sand and another layer. He’s getting close to
the point where he can start texturing. We are both REALLY ready to have this
project done!
We have registered in both Palo Pinto and Tarrant Counties
to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. According to the Tarrant County automated
service, it should be about 3-4 weeks until we have our appointment. That
should work out about right. I am having my shoulder surgery next Friday, so I
should have a couple of weeks to recover from that before getting it. (For the
best efficacy, you aren’t supposed to take Tylenol or ibuprofen around the time
of the injections.) We are ready to get that behind us, so we can start having
Nam sleepovers again! (Plus a few other things.)
My surgery is supposed to be relatively minor…mainly a “clean-out”.
From what my surgeon told me, my mobility will only be limited according to my
pain…no immobilization for weeks. That’s a relief! He told me to expect about 3
months of rehab. I’m really looking forward to being able to fully utilize my
right arm again!
I’ve done some reorganizing this month. I redid my pantry
and am enjoying the new arrangement much better. I also rearranged my spice
drawer and added labels to the shelves, making it easier to find what I’m
looking for. I cleaned out my closet and got rid of a lot of clothes, allowing
me to better organize them. I also got our freezers arranged better for easy
access. Now if we can just KEEP everything organized!
One of my goals for this year was to stay in better contact
with friends and family. I’m trying to reach out to at least one person every
day, whether by text, phone call, card or face-to-face visit. There have,
unfortunately, been many who have had health issues or suffered loss. Rather
than just praying for them (which IS important), I’m trying to get better at
reaching out to them also. I’m really bad about having good intentions, but
failing when it comes to following through with actions. I know how much it
means to me when others take the time to reach out to me when I’m struggling,
so I really hope to improve at doing the same for others in need.
I hope that 2021 has been kind to all of you, thus far, and
praying that this year will bring positive changes for us all. Be safe and be
kind!
