Henrietta Creek Meeting and Improved Pantry

We truly enjoyed the meeting at Henrietta Creek!  Layne started it off with an excellent lesson on following through.  He emphasized our need to earnestly focus on God’s Word and used an example that will forever stay with me.  After the assembly, we gathered with loved ones at the community center.  It was wonderfully therapeutic for me!  I laughed so hard, my belly ached!  It was late when we got home (11:30), but it was well worth the effort!

We didn’t go over for Saturday’s activities.  Dennis is really trying to catch up some on working on the house.  He is trying to finish building the shelves in my pantry.  Our original design was to be for the shelves to line all three sides.  But when he built the pantry and storage cabinet, he was in a hurry to provide much needed storage for holding dishes and pantry items while we worked on the kitchen; so he just built shelves along the back wall, and saved the “wings” for later.  Well, it is later now; so he is finishing them out.  It is amazing how much extra space is added by those additional couple of feet (per shelf) of storage!  He also drove to FW Friday to pick up our floor tile.  I am so excited to think about getting those laid!  He was exhausted when he got them all brought in…over 1000 pounds!
So much room!

Left side, all done

Right side...just one more to go!

Dennis went back to see the doctor about his blood sugar Friday morning.  They are keeping a pretty close watch on his A1C count.  His morning readings have been higher than ever lately, so he was afraid he’d have to go on medication.  His A1C was still about the same as his last one though.  He had gotten off his cholesterol meds (which he actually takes for his high triglyceride count), because they can raise blood sugar.  The doctor prescribed him a different medication that targets triglycerides specifically.  (High triglyceride counts plague the Gerrald men.)  He will go back in another 3 months to see how things are going.  He was very relieved to avoid having to get on medication (for diabetes) again!  I think the stress of the last few months is getting to him.

Saturday evening, Chris gave an excellent study on The Flood…very interesting perspective.  We didn’t go back to the community center after services, since we had gotten home so late the night before…and we were going to lose an hour’s sleep due to Daylight Savings Time.  We heard two good lessons today:  Grant on the Holy Spirit, and Cody on The Eternal Kingdom.  The singing was amazing at every service…as was the fellowship.  It was great to see so many people from so many places!  I want to thank all the Henrietta Creek bunch for hosting the meeting and feeding us so well!  I also want to thank the speakers for their excellent lessons!  And I want to say how good it was to visit with all the ones who drove long distances to be there.  It was a wonderful season of refreshing!
